Accept You Are Forgiven

Guilt comes in many forms, sometimes we cut ourselves up for things we've said or done that we've realised we shouldn't have done. Other times we can make ourselves feel guilty because of someone elses situation which we really have no business to feel guilty about.

Sometimes feeling guilty is good, because it confirms that we've recognised that we've done something wrong, and we need to correct it. It may be that we need to ask someone else for forgiveness and make peace with that person. Sometimes it's God we need to face up to to admit our wrong doing and seek forgiveness.

Have you ever approached God and asked Him for forgiveness, but still you've felt unforgiven? What do we do when despite God forgiving us, we still feel guilty? Well here are a few things to think about if you're still feeling unforgiven:

1. Remember God has forgiven you so there is absolutely no reason why you should still guilty. In other words, if God can forgive you, why should you forgive yourself?!
2. Realise that by refusing to accept God's forgiveness, you are saying that Christ's sacrifice on the cross, was not enough to forgive you of your sins!
3. Seek forgiveness and peace from those affected by what you said or did
4. Try to stop focusing on what you said or did that is making you still feel guilty. You've been forgiven, so move on!

Psalm 51:9-10 (NIV)
Don't' keep looking at my sins. Remove the stain of my guilt.
Create in me a clean heart, O God. Renew a right spirit within me.

Fear of Failure

Have you ever been really disappointed with yourself?

Personally I'm a bit of a perfectionist, as those who work with me will tell you. I expect perfection from myself in everything I do, work related and everything else. Realistically that is very difficult for me to ever achieve. After all there has only ever been one person on earth who has ever been perfect...and that was Jesus!

I know I put pressure on myself to achieve perfection and in so doing can make myself frightened of "getting it wrong", of failing. Do you fear failure? I know it can be scary but there is nothing wrong with wanting to be perfect, that after all is God's ultimate target for each of us...to be like Jesus.

That's an incredibly high standard to live up to, but don't worry God knows we are not perfect, and we fail Him, and that is why He has promised to forgive us of everything we do wrong, of all our sins.

Psalm 34:22 (NIV)
But the Lord will redeem those who serve Him.
Everyone who trusts in Him will be freely pardoned.

Are you in need of forgiveness? Relief from guilt? Freedom from the fear of failure?

Ask the Lord to forgive you and set you free. Your path to freedom and to ultimately be like Jesus, must begin on your knees, at His feet!

New Start

Have you ever done something so bad that you felt you could never be forgiven? Have you ever committed a private sin that have been made horribly public? Have you ever felt like you've been "caught in the act" by someone?

No matter the level of your sin, or who knows about it, Jesus, our Saviour offer us forgiveness and a new start to any who will repent. We need to look inside ourselves, into our own heart, and recognise all aspects of our lives where we must seeks Christs forgiveness. If we do that, we will be forgiven and urged to, "Go and sin no more" (John 8:11).

No matter how privately or publicly we have failed God, if we "Go and sin no more", our new life will begin.

Broken Heart

Every Heart That Is Breaking by Twila Paris
For the young abandoned husband
Left alone without a reason
For the pilgrim in the city where there is no home
For the son without a father
For his solitary mother
I have a message
He sees you. He knows you
He loves you. He loves you

Every heart that is breaking tonight
Is the heart of a child that He holds in His sight
And Oh how He longs to hold in His arms
Every heart that is breaking tonight

For the precious, fallen daughter
For her devastated father
For the prodigal who's dying in a strange new way
For the patriot with no country
I have a message
He sees you. He knows you
He loves you. He loves you

Every heart that is breaking tonight
Is the heart of a child that He holds in His sight
And Oh how He longs to hold in His arms
Every heart that is breaking tonight

There are no more words I can add to this, other than to say God does see you and He knows what you're going through and most of all He loves you, and always will.

Watchtower

When your struggling through difficult times in your life, who do you turn to?

Within the bible we're told that Habakkuk had somewhere to go and someone to listen to him when he was perplexed. He went to his "watchtower", his place of prayer, where he was confident that God would meet him and give him some answers.

Habakkuk 2:1 NIV
What's God going to say to my questions? I'm braced for the worst. I'll climb to the lookout tower and scan the horizon. I'll wait to see what God says, how he'll answer my complaint.

We don't need to be a prophet like Habakkuk to have a watchtower. We can be a mother, a father, a wife, a husband, an executive, a homemaker, an MP or a homeless person...in fact it doesn't matter who we are, God has made a watchtower for each us us so that we can climb into it whenever we want. From that watchtower (place of prayer) we can begin to see what God sees and we can wait for Him to answer our questions.

God doesn't always answer us directly, He often sends us messengers in different forms. He may send us His message through the words of a friend, a minister, book, radio or TV.

When we believe in God we have somewhere to go and someone to listen to us, our watchtower or place of pray where we can wait on God to answer our questions and give us rest from our frustrations.

Sometimes all we need is someone to talk to. It may not change the direct our life is going in but may just remind us we're not going through it on our own.

The Answer to the Question by Tree63
I'm growing tired of a mouth shut tight
when all I want to do is tell the whole world
about the Man sitting at the right
hand of the One in Heaven
how could I sing about anything but Him

He is the answer to the question
He is the cure for the infection
He is all He says He is
He is the ultimate reflection
of holiness and true perfection
He is all He says He is

How can I not cry watching as the
world dies without a prayer
They look to their own construction
bound to the living God of Earth and Heaven
How could they sing about everything but Him, yeah, yeah

He is the answer to the question
He is the cure for the infection
He is all He says He is
He is the ultimate reflection
of holiness and true perfection
He is all He says He is

I'm so tired of a mouth shut tight
All I want to do is tell the whole world
about the man sitting at the right
hand of the One in Heaven
How could I sing about anything but Him

He is the answer to the question
He is the cure for the infection
He is all He says He is
He is the ultimate reflection
of holiness and true perfection
He is all He says He is

Focus

Do you ever get frustrated with people, and then get frustrated with yourself for getting frustrated? Well don't worry, you're in good company, when Jesus was here on earth he got frustrated too...
Jesus asked his disciples, "How long must I put up with you?" (Matthew 17:17 NIV)

Have you ever been to a service or group meeting when you've had that "mountaintop" experience? You're inspired by the wonderful music and great fellowship as well as by the message given by the preacher. But then it's over and you have to return to everyday life, to our valley, and it's far more difficult then to feel inspired isn't it?

Why is that? Well I guess it's probably because when we're back in our day to day lives there's so many things going on round about us that are God focused, that it's easy for us to be distracted from God and thus lose that inspiration we felt during our "mountaintop" experience.

We get frustrated at time by others, just think how frustrated God gets at us when we don't put Him at the centre of all we do, when we stop focusing on Him! We must pray to God focusing on Christ.

Let God change you for the better. He will get you though your valleys and back to your mountaintop.

Focus!

Fantasy or Faith?

When things are going wrong in our life, and everything seems bleak, God alone can help us.

When bad health is something we have to face on a daily basis, God is the one who can give us the strength to face the day.

When we've no money in the bank and you don't know where your next meal is going to come from, only God can help.

God is enough to help us in all situations we find ourselves.

We can become frustrated when bad things happen to us, but when we start to fantasize we're move further away from reality and fact. i.e. If we fantasise that good health alone will bring us happiness, or when we have a big house, a holiday or we win the lottery that will be the key to eternal happiness. But all these things are fantasy.

The answer to fantasy is faith. Faith will chase our frustrations away and give us the strength to live well, even if that means with little earthly value to our name. Faith reminds us that we have a heavenly bank account and that is one which cannot contain our earthly possessions but simply our spiritual wealth.

God will make help you through your situation, whatever it is, so be joyful in God's love and He will get you over the mountains of frustrations that face you.

This is not the best recording but I hope you can make out the message - There's Never Been a Mountain by Derby Central Songsters:

Why?

How many times have you asked youself Why or "why do so many things go wrong for me"?, Why do bad things always seem to happen to good people?

You're not the first and I'm certain you will definitely not be the last person to ask those questions. The bible tells us in Habakkuk 1:2-4
The problem as God gave Habakkuk to see it: God, how long do I have to cry out for help before you listen? How many times do I have to yell, "Help! Murder! Police!" before you come to the rescue? Why do you force me to look at evil, stare trouble in the face day after day? Anarchy and violence break out, quarrels and fights all over the place. Law and order fall to pieces. Justice is a joke. The wicked have the righteous hamstrung and stand justice on its head.

Don't think that just because you've accepted God into your heart, that you will not experience things of sadness or depression or "dark times". Accepting God into your life simply means that when the dark times come in your life, you can confident that God will be by your side and will be your strength and comfort during these times.

So when your struggling with what life has thrown your way, rely and God, pray to Him to give you strength and direction to get your through. But always remember, just because you ask God for answers, He may not give you the answer that you wanted to hear, but don't despair, keep your eyes focused on God and He will help you find your way through the dark clouds that surround you.

Out of the Darkness by Tim Hughes
I could live a thousand years
Never earn a moment of your grace
Even in my darkest day
You shine on me
You shine on me

And out of the Darkness
You brought me into your glorious light
Saved from the death i was facing
Rejoicing in the future, a hope that is mine

The greatest of all gifts
From the greatest of all givers
Jesus there upon the cross
True love displayed for all to see

And your grace runs after me
Runs after me
Everyday of my life
And Your mercies they never fail
They never fail
Everyday of my life

It's Free!

Do you believe you can get something for nothing?
Are you sceptical when someone tells you you can have something for nothing?

It's true I'm sure that there are some things in life that you can get free of charge. Well that includes salvation, as God tells us:

The Spirit and the bride say, "Come!" And let him who hears say, "Come!" Whoever is thirsty, let him come; and whoever wishes, let him take the free gift of the water of life.
Revelation 22:17 (NIV)
Please do not be sceptical, although eternal life does not come to us for free, it simply means that someone has to pay the price...and that someone was Jesus! He has paid the ultimate price for us on the cross - "He paid a debt he did not owe; I owed a debt I could not pay".

When we accept Jesus as our saviour, God transferred our sins to his account. In other words our debt is taken from us because Jesus paid our debt in full! And that is why He can offer us eternal life free of charge!

So stop trying to pay the debt yourself, just come to God.

Come is such a simply word but it's the only one required to invite you to God...Come!

I found this simply prayer on the internet, please use it to invite God into your life today:
Lord, I'm coming, I'm coming to Christ. I'm coming to say I'm sorry that you had to die to pay the punishment for sins you didn't commit - mine! Thank you, Lord Jesus. Lord, I'm coming. I'm coming to say I'm done with trying to "buy" influence with you. I've run out of currency - I'm bankrupt. "nothing in my hands I bring. Simply to your cross I cling". Jesus, I've come - here I am - forgive me, come into my heart, enter my life, and give me eternal life. Thank you Lord Jesus! Amen

Everything God has done was just so you would come to Him...

How Much?

Do you know how much God loves you?

This is how much God love you...

This is how much God loved the world: He gave his Son, his one and only Son. And this is why: so that no one need be destroyed; by believing in him, anyone can have a whole and lasting life. God didn't go to all the trouble of sending his Son merely to point an accusing finger, telling the world how bad it was. He came to help, to put the world right again. Anyone who trusts in him is acquitted; anyone who refuses to trust him has long since been under the death sentence without knowing it. And why? Because of that person's failure to believe in the one-of-a-kind Son of God when introduced to him.

(John 3:16-18 - The Message)

Please never forget that God loves you. Sometimes life may throw things our way which make us doubt God, but He is still there - He is always there, because He love each and every one of us.

The Sermon

I received the following in an email and I felt I had to share it with you, it's so thought provoking...

A member of a certain church, who previously had been
attending services regularly, stopped going. After a few weeks,
the preacher decided to visit him.

It was a chilly evening. The preacher found the man at home
alone, sitting before a blazing fire. Guessing the reason for his
preachers visit, the man welcomed him, led him to a comfortable
chair near the fireplace and waited.

The preacher made himself at home but said nothing. In the
grave silence, he contemplated the dance of the flames around
the burning logs. After some minutes, the preacher took the
fire tongs, carefully picked up a brightly burning ember and
placed it to one side of the hearth all alone then he sat back
in his chair, still silent.

The host watched all this in quiet contemplation. As the one
one lone ember's flame flickered and diminished, there was a
momentary glow and then its fire was no more. Soon it was
cold and dead.

Not a word had been spoken since the initial greeting. The
preacher glanced at his watch and realized it was time to leave.
He slowly stood up, picked up the cold, dead ember and placed
it back in the middle of the fire. Immediately it began to glow,
once more with the light and warmth of the burning coals around it.

As the preacher reached the door to leave, his host said with a
tear running down his cheek, "Thank you so much for your
visit and especially for the fiery sermon. I shall be back in
church next week ."

We live in a world today, which tries to say too much with too
little. Consequently, few listen. Sometimes the best sermons are
the ones left unspoken.

The Lord is my Shepherdthat's a Relationship!
I shall not wantthat's Supply!
He maketh me to lie down in green pasturesthat's Rest!
He leadeth me beside the still watersthat's Refreshment!
He restoreth my soulthat's Healing!
He leadeth me in the paths of righteousnessthat's Guidance!
For His name sakethat's Purpose!
Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of deaththat's Testing!
I will fear no evilthat's Protection!
For Thou art with methat's Faithfulness!
Thy rod and Thy staff they comfort methat's Discipline!
Thou preparest a table before me in the presence of mine enemiesthat's Hope!
Thou annointest my head with oilthat's Consecration!
My cup runneth overthat's Abundance!
Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my lifethat's Blessing!
And I will dwell in the house of the Lordthat's Security!

Mighty Name

Question: Who is the mighty?
Answer: Jesus
Why: Jesus came to earth and lived among us as one of us. Jesus paid the ultimate price for you and me, He gave his life for us, just so we could be free - free from sin. It is through believing in Him that Christians have the power and strength to life for Him.

Jesus IS a mighty name and a mighty person.

He is my inspiration and can be yours too.

Longing for God

As the deer pants for streams of water, so my soul pants for you, O God.
Psalm 42:1

As the deer pants for the water,
So my soul longs after You.
You alone are my heart's desire
And I long to worship You.

You alone are my strength, my shield,
To You alone may my spirit yield.
You alone are my heart's desire
And I long to worship You.

I want You more than gold or silver,
Only You can satisfy.
You alone are the real joy-giver
And the apple of my eye.

You're my Friend and You are my Brother,
Even though You are a King.
I love You more than any other,
So much more than anything.

Do you long for someone to help you find what you're looking for in this world: peace, happiness, love? If you are, turn to God, he is the one and only person who can help you achieve all you can, he can help you find peace and happiness. Invite God into your life today and let Him be your closest friend.

Where Do I Belong?

"Where do I belong?"
"Is there a vision that I can call my own?"

Are these questions you find you asking yourself?

Sometimes life can make you feel like you don't belong here because you feel you have no purpose in your life. Don't worry you're not alone in having these feelings, many of us do...me included!

But don't despair, God has a purpose for each and every one of us! God planned our life's out for us before we were even born!

If we pray to God and most importantly, listen to God talking to us, He will tell us what our purpose in life is. Put your trust in God, ask Him to show you what He's planned for your life and then make it a reality with God's help.

Place In This World by Michael W Smith

The wind is moving
But I am standing still
A life of pages
Waiting to be filled

A heart that's hopeful
A head that's full of dreams
But this becoming
Is harder than it seems

Feels like I'm
Looking for a reason
Roamin' through the night to find
My place in this world
My place in this world
Not a lot to lean on
I need your light to help me find
My place in this world
My place in this world

If there are millions
Down on their knees
Among the many
Can you still hear me

Hear me asking
Where do I belong?
Is there a vision
That I can call my own?

Show me, I'm
Looking for a reason
Roamin' through the night to find
My place in this world
My place in this world
Not a lot to lean on
I need your light to help me find
My place in this world
My place in this world

Lookin' for a reason
Roamin' through the night to find
My place in this world
My place in this world
Not a lot to lean on
I need your light to help me find
My place in this world
My place in this world

Lookin' for a reason
Roamin' through the night to find
My place in this world
My place in this world

He's Been Here

God sent His son to earth so that He could experience all that we experience. He went one step further than we will ever have to go though, because He sent His son here to earth to die on a cross, just so we would be forgiven of all our sins.

Don't think because you're finding life difficult or your struggling to carry on, that Jesus doesn't understand how you feel, He does. Jesus understands, He's been here and He's had those same feelings you are experiencing now.

So trust Jesus, trust God, because He's with you all the time.

I Have Been There by Mark Schultz
In a room without a view, a new mother smiles and holds
her tiny fingers on her brand new baby girl.
Her husband takes her by the hand, so unsure about the future
and no money can they make it in this world?

And they pray, Lord all we have to give is love
and they heard a gentle voice like an echo from above,
I have been there. I know what fear is all about.
Yes, I have been there and I'm standing with you now.
I have been there
And I came to build the bridge oh so this road could lead you home.
Oh I have been there.

He's been a pastor twenty years
but tonight he sits alone and broken hearted in the corner of the church
He tried to change a fallen world
with his words and with his wisdom but it seems like it is only getting worse
And he cries, Oh Lord I just don't understand
Then he felt the hand of grace, and he heard a voice that said

I have been there, I know what pain is all about
yes I have been there, and I'm standing with you now
I have been there, and I came to build a bridge
oh so this road could lead you home
oh i have been there.

An older man up on a hill
holding flowers but he can't hold back the tears.
oh he has come to say goodbye.
he thinks about the life she lived,
thinks about how hard it's been to live without her
sixty years right by his side
and he cries, oh Lord i loved her till the end
and he heard a gentle voice say you'll see her once again

I have been there
I know what sorrow's all about
yes i have been there and I'm standing with you now
i have been there, and i came to build a bridge
oh so this road could lead her home, the road could lead her home
oh i have been there, You know I overcame the cross, yes i have been there
so her life would not be lost
oh i have been there, and i came to build
a bridge so this road could lead you home
the road could lead you home

Oh I have been there
Yes I have been there

Kindness

Great Kindness by Tree63

A grateful man bows before You to thank You Lord
In silent tears for there is so much to thank You for
I have nothing, nothing if not for You
How can I repay You?
What can I ever give back to You?
I always will remember
Your great kindness

In desperate need I cried out, You delivered me
My soul from death, my feet from stumbling
My eyes from tears I will lift up salvation's cup
And call Your name
I have everything, yet nothing
If not for You

In the same way that God can provide us with the great love we will ever know, He will also be kinder to us than anyone else we will ever know.

Don't take God's love of His great kindness for granted - Say thank you to God for the love and kindness He shows you each day.

Be inspired by God and show some kindness to others. By kind to those you don't know, the unloveable, the oppressed.

God will reward you in heaven for your kindness. God expects us to be kind to everyone, just as He is.

Let Go

God will never let you go, no matter what you may have done in the past, or what you may do in the future. Even so, let lead you and guide you through each day...He will never let you go.

Never Let Me Go
In the shadows; My spirit weak
Love broke through the darkness and lifted me
And I know you'll never let me go

In the storm in the raging sea
Love conquered the fear and delivered me
And I know you'll never let me go

Oh love in the shadows
Be the light who leads me on
You're love I will follow
Be my guide, You're will be done
Oh Lord

In the arms of the One unseen
Love carried the cross that was meant for me
And I know you'll never let me go

Oh love in the shadows
Be the light who leads me on
You're love I will follow
Be my guide, You're will be done

Oh Lord I surrender, now forever I'll be loved
In the love of the Father, You are faithful You are strong
So hold me now, hold me now, hold me now

Nothing in this life has walked these streets
Love opened my eyes show me what You see
And I know I'll never let You go

How Great Thou Art

Who is like You among the gods, O LORD?
Who is like You, majestic in holiness,
Awesome in praises, working wonders?
Exodus 15:11

How Great Thou Art
O Lord my God, When I in awesome wonder,
Consider all the worlds Thy Hands have made;
I see the stars, I hear the rolling thunder,
Thy power throughout the universe displayed.

Then sings my soul, My Saviour God, to Thee,
How great Thou art, How great Thou art.
Then sings my soul, My Saviour God, to Thee,
How great Thou art, How great Thou art!

When through the woods, and forest glades I wander,
And hear the birds sing sweetly in the trees.
When I look down, from lofty mountain grandeur
And see the brook, and feel the gentle breeze.

Then sings my soul, My Saviour God, to Thee,
How great Thou art, How great Thou art.
Then sings my soul, My Saviour God, to Thee,
How great Thou art, How great Thou art!

And when I think, that God, His Son not sparing;
Sent Him to die, I scarce can take it in;
That on the Cross, my burden gladly bearing,
He bled and died to take away my sin.

Then sings my soul, My Saviour God, to Thee,
How great Thou art, How great Thou art.
Then sings my soul, My Saviour God, to Thee,
How great Thou art, How great Thou art!

When Christ shall come, with shout of acclamation,
And take me home, what joy shall fill my heart.
Then I shall bow, in humble adoration,
And then proclaim: "My God, how great Thou art!"

Then sings my soul, My Saviour God, to Thee,
How great Thou art, How great Thou art.
Then sings my soul, My Saviour God, to Thee,
How great Thou art, How great Thou art!

Sydney Staff Songsters sing How Great Thou Art:

The story of this wonderful and inspiring hymn:

A young minister’s two-mile walk in the rain provided the inspiration for “How Great Thou Art.” The Reverend Carl Boberg of Monsteras, on the southeast coast of Sweden, was 25 years old when he wrote the lyrics of this song after trekking through a thunderstorm from a church meeting two miles away

This great hymn has a history that stretches back over a hundred years. The original song was written by a young Swedish preacher, Carl Boberg, and first published in 1886, under the title O Store Gud. Boberg wrote a poem, not meaning to write a hymn, but later heard it being sung to an old Swedish tune.

More than forty years later, an English missionary, Stuart Hine, first heard the song in Russia. He and his young wife were missionaries to the Carpathian area of Russia, then a part of Czechoslovakia. There, they heard a very meaningful hymn that was a Russian translation of Carl Boberg’s O Store Gud (O Great God).

While ministering in the Carpathian Mountains, Hine found himself in the midst of a threatening storm. The thunder, as it rolled through the mountain range, was so awesome that it reminded Hine of the beautiful Russian hymn that had already become so dear to him. English verses began to form in his mind, verses that were suggested by portions of the Russian translation.

How Great Thou Art is probably the all-time favorite hymn today. Although its origin had roots in Europe, it was not widely known until 1957, when the Billy Graham Crusade in New York City launched it on a never-ending spiral around the world. It was performed nearly a hundred times during those meetings and countless times ever since.

One cannot sing this majestic hymn of praise and adoration without realizing anew the omnipotence of the Creator who did it all.

Heroes - My Blog of Remembrance

Each year, The Royal British Legion establishes a Field of Remembrance at Westminster Abbey, London and Cathays Park, Cardiff.

The Fields become a sea of Remembrance Crosses with scarlet poppies - a touching symbol of Remembrance and tribute to the memory of ex-Service men and women who made the ultimate sacrifice to protect their country.

There have been many wars and conflicts over the years, some close to home, like the conflict in Northern Ireland, others thousands of miles away, like the current conflict in Afghanistan. Wherever the conflict and no matter whether it's still going on or whether like the first and second world wars, it finished many years ago, we must never forget those who were killed fighting for our freedom.

Today, on the 11th day of the 11th month, I hope like me, you took the time at 11 minutes past the 11th hour, you stopped what you were doing and observed a 2 minute silence in memory of those who have lost their lives.

Please pray for these men and women today and for all they sacrificed.

Now I'd ask you to think of those still involved in conflicts...

Hero is a word that is bandied about too readily these days, devaluing and diminishing the actions of real heroes.

The brave young men and women in our Armed Forces, especially those who are serving on the front lines in Afghanistan and Iraq, wake up every morning knowing that it could be their last. These are the people who are true heroes. When serving thousands of miles away from their home, it's tough on our troops' loved ones too.

Remember to pray for those still serving abroad, and the family and friends they've left at home. Please pray that God will keep them and their families safe...and let them come home soon!

Great Kindness

Kind words cost nothing and can achieve much, even difficult people respond to kindness.

Be kind - Show some love to the unloveable.

Hands Of Kindness

Oh your hands of kindness are here for me
And I have heard they are silken and can carry me

How I love you
All I am is you
King of love I bow

Oh your hands of mercy were scarred for me
And your body was broken so that I go free

Oh your love that burns me, deeper than the sea
And the treasure I find here, the saviour's love for me

Remembrance

Today all around the world, many joined together to remember those you have been killed fighting for their country. I'd like to mark this day by sharing with you the contents of an email I received a few days ago, as I was so moved by it.

I'd ask you to read the following and pass it onto others...

The poppy Appeal commenced on 24th October. Please read this.

They are doing their bit.....please do yours by reading this and getting others to read it too:

The average British soldier is 19 years old.....he is a short haired, well built lad who, under normal circumstances is considered by society as half man, half boy. Not yet dry behind the ears and just old enough to buy a round of drinks but old enough to die for his country - and for you. He's not particularly keen on hard work but he'd rather be grafting in Afghanistan than unemployed in the UK . He recently left comprehensive school where he was probably an average student, played some form of sport, drove a ten year old rust bucket, and knew a girl that either broke up with him when he left, or swore to be waiting when he returns home. He moves easily to rock and roll or hip-hop or to the rattle of a 7.62mm machine gun.
He is about a stone lighter than when he left home because he is working or fighting from dawn to dusk and well beyond. He has trouble spelling, so letter writing is a pain for him, but he can strip a rifle in 25 seconds and reassemble it in the dark. He can recite every detail of a machine gun or grenade launcher and use either effectively if he has to. He digs trenches and latrines without the aid of machines and can apply first aid like a professional paramedic. He can march until he is told to stop, or stay dead still until he is told to move.

He obeys orders instantly and without hesitation but he is not without a rebellious spirit or a sense of personal dignity. He is confidently self-sufficient. He has two sets of uniform with him: he washes one and wears the other. He keeps his water bottle full and his feet dry. He sometimes forgets to brush his teeth, but never forgets to clean his rifle. He can cook his own meals, mend his own clothes and fix his own hurts. If you are thirsty, he'll share his water with you; if you are hungry, his food is your food. He'll even share his life-saving ammunition with you in the heat of a firefight if you run low.

He has learned to use his hands like weapons and regards his weapon as an extension of his own hands. He can save your life or he can take it, because that is his job - it's what a soldier does. He often works twice as long and hard as a civilian, draw half the pay and have nowhere to spend it, and can still find black ironic humour in it all. There's an old saying in the British Army: 'If you can't take a joke, you shouldn't have joined!'

He has seen more suffering and death than he should have in his short lifetime. He has wept in public and in private, for friends who have fallen in combat and he is unashamed to show it or admit it. He feels every bugle note of the 'Last Post' or 'Sunset' vibrate through his body while standing rigidly to attention. He's not afraid to 'Bollock' anyone who shows disrespect when the Regimental Colours are on display or the National Anthem is played; yet in an odd twist, he would defend anyone's right to be an individual. Just as with generations of young people before him, he is paying the price for our freedom. Clean shaven and baby faced he may be, but be prepared to defend yourself if you treat him like a kid.

He is the latest in a long thin line of British Fighting Men that have kept this country free for hundreds of years. He asks for nothing from us except our respect, friendship and understanding. We may not like what he does, but sometimes he doesn't like it either - he just has it to do.. Remember him always, for he has earned our respect and admiration with his blood.

And now we even have brave young women putting themselves in harm's way, doing their part in this tradition of going to war when our nation's politicians call on us to do so.
Now you've read this, please stop for a moment and if you are so inclined, feel free to say a prayer for our troops in the trouble spots of the world.

Our troops need our prayers. Please pray for them.

How Can I?

It's difficult not to be happy when God is part of everything you do. I know life isn't always easy as we all go through difficult situations at time, however if we keep God at the center of all we do, there is no reason you can't continue to be happy in God's presence.

With God by our side it's difficult not to sing about it and tell others, and that's reflected by Sydney Staff Songsters as they sing How Can I Keep From Singing:

My Mission

God requires us to tell others about His love. He requires us to be His witnesses, His disciples.

I personally find that very daunting as I feel so inadequate, as I am not very confident of speaking publicly about my faith. However, I do know God will give me what I need to get through every situation - He's given me the medium of this blog to try to spread His message.

I hope and pray you find my blog interesting and challenging. I pray your relationship with God may grow because of something you've read here, but most of all I simply pray that God will continue to use me as a witness through all I do.

Acts 1:8 (New International Version)
But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit comes on you; and you will be my witnesses in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the ends of the earth

The Mission by Newsboys

When the runners came from Bethlehem
All breathless with good news
They were passing a baton forward through time
The commission, from God's lips to our ears
Carried by His saints two thousand years
Connects us all to the same lifeline
As I fix my eyes ahead
I can feel the Spirit's breath...

(And) I can hear the mission bell ringing out loud and clear
It's the revolution Jesus started, and it's here
Echoing across the world from the shores of Galilee
I can hear the mission bell call for you and me
I wanna run with fire
It's my heart's desire
Lifting your love higher

In the history of our faith's arrivals
Great awakenings, Welsh revivals
Saints and martyrs, summoned by a new birth
Patrick's save of the Irish nation
William Carey's expectation
Lambs and Lions
Called to the ends of the earth
Gotta put my hand to the plow
Not looking back, not now...

(And) I can hear the mission bell ringing out loud and clear
It's the revolution Jesus started, and it's here
Echoing across the world from the shores of Galilee
I can hear the mission bell call for you and me
I wanna run with fire
It's my heart's desire
Lifting your love higher

The Father

How much do you think God loves you?
Do you even know that God loves you?

Think about the person or people in your life you love you most...
God loves you more than that!
Think about the person or people in your life you love you most and multiply a million times...
God loves you more than that!

God loves me more than I could every comprehend.
God loves you more than I'm sure you could ever comprehend.

Do not ever underestimate how much God loves you and how much God can do for you. God loves you as a father loves his child. We each are God's children, so believe in God, believe in His love.

Majesty

What do you think of when you hear the word "majesty"?
Here are some dictionary definitions:

  • The greatness and dignity of a sovereign.
  • The sovereignty and power of God.
  • Supreme authority or power

In other words, something awesome and wonderful, more powerful and mighty than man. All of which makes "majesty" a fantastic word to describe God and Jesus as they are greater than any other and certainly greater than anyone here on earth.

But despite being so awesome, God loves us unconditionally and is more than willing to forgive us of our sins, if only we'd ask Him to. Accept God's unconditional love today, it's a far greater love than you'll ever find from anyone else.

Sydney Staff Songsters sing Majesty (Here I am)

Majesty (Here I Am)

Here I am humbled by your Majesty
Covered by your grace so free
Here I am, knowing I'm a sinful man
Covered by the blood of the Lamb

Now I've found the greatest love of all is mine
Since you laid down your life
The greatest sacrifice

Majesty, Majesty
Your grace has found me just as I am
Empty handed, but alive in your hands
Majesty, Majesty
Forever I am changed by your love
In the presence of your Majesty

Here I am humbled by the love that you give
Forgiven so that I can forgive
Here I stand, knowing that I'm your desire
Sanctified by glory and fire

Now I've found the greatest love of all is mine
Since you laid down your life
The greatest sacrifice

Saved!

We often hear Christians talking about being saved, but what does that mean?
And what are they talking about being saved from?

Put simply, it means we are saved from our sins.

When God created the world, everything was perfect. However as we all know, it didn't take long after God created man, before things became spoiled and sin first occurred - Adam and Eve in the garden of Eden.

Sin spoiled the relationship God had with man. In Romans 5:12 we learn that the whole world was affected because Adam sinned:
You know the story of how Adam landed us in the dilemma we're in— first sin, then death, and no one exempt from either sin or death. That sin disturbed relations with God in everything and everyone (The Message)

Every person born after Adam was then born into a sinful world - that means everyone, including you and me!

So we're all sinful, so how can we be saved (free from sin)? We can do that by accepting God into your life and recognising that God sent Jesus here to earth where He died just so each one of us could be forgiven of all our sins.

Pray to God today and ask Him to save you today!

How Great?

How Great Is Our God (by Chris Tomlin)
The splendor of a King,
Clothed in majesty
Let all the earth rejoice,
All the earth rejoice
He wraps himself in light,
And darkness tries to hide
And trembles at his voice,
And trembles at his voice

How great is our God,
sing with me
How great is our God,
and all will see
How great, How great
Is our God

Age to age he stands
And time is in His Hands
Beginning and the End,
Beginning and the End
The Godhead, Three in one
Father, Spirit, Son
The Lion and the Lamb,
The Lion and the Lamb

How great is our God,
sing with me
How great is our God,
and all will see
How great, How great
Is our God

Name above all names
You are Worthy of all praise
and My heart will sing how great
Is our God
(x2)

How great is our God,
Sing with me
How great is our God,
and all will see
How great, How great
Is our God

How great is our God,
Sing with me
How great is our God,
and all will see
How great, How great
Is our God

Do you know how great God is?
Praise God, He is great and wonderful beyond compare. He can be your greatest friend if you just accept Him into your life.

Who Is God?

Are you wondering who God is or what He represents?
The following song I Am by Mark Schultz will hopefully answer some of your questions.

I Am (by Mark Schultz)
I am the maker of the Heavens
I am the bright and morning star
I am the breath of all Creation
Who always was
And is to come

I am the One who walked on water
I am the One who calmed the seas
I am the miracles and wonders
So come and see
And follow me
You will know

Chorus:
I am the fount of living water
The risen Son of man
The healer of the broken
And when you cry
I am your savior and redeemer
Who bore the sins of man
The author and perfecter
Beginning and the end
I am

I am the spirit deep inside you
I am the word upon your heart
I am the One who even knew you
Before your birth
Before you were

Chorus:

Before the Earth (I am)
The universe (I am)
In every heart (I am)
Oh, where you are (I am)
The Lord of love (I am)
The King of Kings (I am)
The Holy lamb (I am)
Above all things

Chorus:

Yes, I am almighty God your father
The risen son of man
The healer of the broken
And when you cry
I am your saviour and redeemer
Who bore the sins of man
The author and perfecter
Beginning and the end
I am

I hope you understand a little bit more about God, about how much He has done for you and for me. I hope this inspires you to find out more about God.
God can be your everything if you give Him your all.
