Plans

Well I've had one of those days when I did absolutely nothing I intended to, or planned to do. Today was the last day of our Christmas/new Year holidays as both my husband and me go back to work tomorrow. We had planned after a long lie to venture out somewhere however before midday our plans were turned upside-down.

To cut a long story short, I ended up at the hospital with my Mum and Dad from about midday till after 6pm, as my Dad had a fall this morning.

However what I wanted to mention was that several times today Mum said to me "it's just as well we don't know what each day holds". Sitting in the A&E of one of the busy Glasgow hospitals, you see some sights which make you very thankfull for the health we have - today was a particularly busy day at that A&E and I saw a number of very seriously ill people.

My Mum is right, it is just as well we don't know what lies ahead of us each day, or we may not have the courage to face it!

So today I'd just like to say, don't be afraid of what the future holds, God is with you. If ever you feel very low just think of those much worse off than yourself, and thank God for the things you do have.

I know I've used the following song before, but the words of it have been going through my mind all day and they fit in perfectly with how my day has gone...I'm In His Hands...

Rain

Well I should have known better...write a blog about the wonderful sunny weather we're having and what happens...within a day the sun's gone and it's wet and dull again! Sorry!

I said in my blog yesterday that when it's sunny it seems to lift our spirits and make everything seem a bit brighter. Well today I think I've seen the opposite apply:

  • Damp and wet this morning when I left for work which after the weather of the last few days, made it less appealing to go out in.

  • I then got stuck in a traffic jam for a while because part of a raod had been shut because of a collapsed man hole.

  • That in turn meant I got to work much later than I was supposed to.

  • The air conditioning in my office is broken and needs a part which won't be available until Monday, so the office is like a sauna again.

  • Had to go out at lunchtime to get a birthday card for my Dad, forgot my umbrella so got soaked.

  • Had a meeting this afternoon which went on until about 5.45pm, by which time my head was thumping.

So dull and damp outside today. Feeling pretty down today too as it's been a very long day, I'm exhausted and a lot of things I was involved in to day just didn't quite go as planned.

Sunny bright days outside seem to make it easier to be positive, so when you're having a "grey" day, don't focus on the negative things around you, think of a time when you were happy and try and stay positive. Pray! God doesn't desert you when you're having a bad day, He's there to help you make everyday a sunny day.

Stay positive no matter how your weather looks!

By the way, Tigger's back to sleeping on our bed again as the window doesn't seem so appealing today!

Sunshine

For the last few days, we've been enjoying some beautiful sunny weather. Not only has it been sunny, it's been warm too! Unfortunately other than last weekend, many of us will have been unable to make to most of the good weather, as we've been stuck in an office all day.

It was commented to me today that everything always looks better when it's sunny. It's true though isn't it? The bright sunny weather seems to lift everyone's spirits and make dull, drab places look brighter and more appealing. The same can be said for things which may be worrying/concerning us - When the world around us is brighter and lifts our spirits, it often helps us to see our problems in a different light, which in turn helps put them in perspective, easing our worries.

It's not just us humans who enjoy the sunshine though, our cat, called Tigger, loves sunbathing on our window sill. Though once he's been lying there a wee while he usually disappears through to the kitchen to hang out the kitchen window and get some fresh air.

Use this time of good weather to lift your spirits. Look at problems from a different perspective, they often aren't as bad as we think when we' re in a more positive frame of mind.

Let's hope the good weather continues. Enjoy the sunshine. :)
