Plans

Well I've had one of those days when I did absolutely nothing I intended to, or planned to do. Today was the last day of our Christmas/new Year holidays as both my husband and me go back to work tomorrow. We had planned after a long lie to venture out somewhere however before midday our plans were turned upside-down.

To cut a long story short, I ended up at the hospital with my Mum and Dad from about midday till after 6pm, as my Dad had a fall this morning.

However what I wanted to mention was that several times today Mum said to me "it's just as well we don't know what each day holds". Sitting in the A&E of one of the busy Glasgow hospitals, you see some sights which make you very thankfull for the health we have - today was a particularly busy day at that A&E and I saw a number of very seriously ill people.

My Mum is right, it is just as well we don't know what lies ahead of us each day, or we may not have the courage to face it!

So today I'd just like to say, don't be afraid of what the future holds, God is with you. If ever you feel very low just think of those much worse off than yourself, and thank God for the things you do have.

I know I've used the following song before, but the words of it have been going through my mind all day and they fit in perfectly with how my day has gone...I'm In His Hands...

Frustrations

This week at work, has felt like 2 weeks, however the days themselves have flown by as I’ve been very busy. That however hasn’t dimmed my frustrations in the last few days. The project I’m currently working is on is nearing it’s implementation, however in these last few weeks we just seem to be hitting one problem after another.

Yes, I am frustrated by it all particularly as many of the issues could and should have been avoided and saved us many hours of chasing to try to resolve things or find someone who can!

At the end of the day, this is only about work and when I leave work at night, I leave these frustrations behind me. They are still there the next day, but at least I can forget them while I’m not at work.

So how do you deal with frustrations?

Certainly as far as work is concerned I try to leave my frustration at work when I leave each day. It’s not so easy to put to one side other frustrations we face in life as often they have arisen from something that is a core part of our life and with us all the time. E.g. Health concerns, martial problems, concerns about our children etc.

Whatever your frustrations, take them to God, he’s there to help you through thick and thin.

God will always hear your prayer.

Press On

Well we're nearly at the end of another working week, so how's your week been?

It's been a strange week for me as it's been full of highs and lows in a several areas of my life. It never ceases to amaze me how quickly a high in our life and so quickly change to feeling like an all time low, and vice versa.

I hope your week has been one of highs, however if it hasn't, what did you do when you were experiencing one of your lower times?

The first thing we should do then is pray - Turn to God, He will give you the stregth and the courage to go on and get you through your "deep valley". I know and understand that it can be very difficult during these times to trust God and believe He will help, but take it from one who's been in some very "deep valleys" in the last while, God can and will help...He may not help you in the way you expected or wanted, but He will help you in the way He knows is best for you.

Trust God and press on in your Christian journey.

Back to Work

Today was my first day back at work after being on leave for just over a week. Like most people after being off, I wished I didn’t have to go back to work today, so it was a bit of an effort to get out of bed this morning.

Having got myself to work, I found myself having to deal with a number of things which always seem to happen/have happened when I go back to work. Are these just things that happen in my office?

• The mystery of the missing stapler – the one you left in your desk that is now nowhere to be found…and no one claims to have used it!


• Where are all your pens?


• Your chair is either:
  - Not at your desk – it’s been moved to someone else’s desk
  - Has been adjusted so the height/tilt etc is not how you like it!


• There’s a pile of documents/magazines on your desk that aren’t yours, and you didn’t ask for them - it turns out they’ve just been left there because “your desk was free”


• The coffee “thief” has returned - You seem to have less coffee left than you thought you had been you went on holiday!


• Your email inbox is full to overflowing and it takes most of the day to work your way through them and determine which are spam, which have been dealt with by someone else, which you need to action and which are purely for information only


• You have at least one voicemail message from someone telling you they require you to call them urgently, despite your voicemail message indicating you’re on holiday until today


• And finally, but probably worst of all...your own personal mug has disappeared!

So, is this just my office these things happen in? Any feedback would be much appreciated.

You'll be please to know that by the time I left work tonight I had found my mug...someone had put it in a cupboard in the kitchen beside the "visitor" mugs!!! D'oh!

Despite the pitfalls off returning to work after being off, I know I am one of the lucky ones these days to still have a job to go to. With that in mind I'd ask that today you pray for those who are unemployed and those who are struggling to cope financially in these difficult economic times.
