What It Means

Saved!

We often hear Christians talking about being saved, but what does that mean?
And what are they talking about being saved from?

Put simply, it means we are saved from our sins.

When God created the world, everything was perfect. However as we all know, it didn't take long after God created man, before things became spoiled and sin first occurred - Adam and Eve in the garden of Eden.

Sin spoiled the relationship God had with man. In Romans 5:12 we learn that the whole world was affected because Adam sinned:
You know the story of how Adam landed us in the dilemma we're in— first sin, then death, and no one exempt from either sin or death. That sin disturbed relations with God in everything and everyone (The Message)

Every person born after Adam was then born into a sinful world - that means everyone, including you and me!

So we're all sinful, so how can we be saved (free from sin)? We can do that by accepting God into your life and recognising that God sent Jesus here to earth where He died just so each one of us could be forgiven of all our sins.

Never Again

We all do things which we later regret and go on to say "we'll never to that again!". Have you then found yourself doing that same thing again another time, despite having promised not to do it? I know I have.

We often make promises which we don't keep, however God has made many promises but keeps them all. When God says "Never again", he really does mean never again.



When we experience God's faithfulness, it helps us to trust him more. Life's experiences help us to look back and see that God's promises and judgements have come true.

After a cataclysmic event in your life, it helps to reestablish your devotional life. I certainly found during the last few years when health issues seemed to take over my life that is is more important than ever to listen for God's "never again" and start looking for His rainbows. Spend time reading the promises of God in the bible - I found highlighting them was helpful to me, as it made it easier to refer back to them later for reassurance.


But what exactly can we be sure about?

God promises that sin need never again control us (Romans 8:9-11).

He promises that we need not be afraid ever again (John 14:27).
Peace I leave with you; my peace I give you. I do not give to you as the world gives. Do not let your hearts be troubled and do not be afraid.

He promises that his peace will guard our hearts and minds (Phil 4:7).
And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.

He promises that we need never be ignorant of his will for his word will be a "lamp" and a "light" to our path (Ps 119:105).

He promises that we need never again be defeated Christians (Rom 8:37).

As we read our bibles, God's rainbows colour our perspectives.
Be encouraged! God's promises never fail.

How Loved Am I ? (Part 1)

The best news anyone will ever hear is that "you are loved by God".

We don’t have to do anything to make God love us more and His love for us will not lessen even when we go astray. God’s love for us is not based on what we do, it’s based on who He is and His deliberate choice to love us, even during those times when we go wrong.

God wants us to "be still and know that He is God". This includes us unconditionally believing and knowing that God loves us!

God’s desire to love us is like the love parents have for their newborn child – they love the child even though it has done nothing to merit their love and is powerless to make its parents love it any more or any less – the child has simply become loved. This is exactly the same as God’s love for us – He can’t help but love us because it is the essence of His very nature.

Love isn’t something God does, it’s simply who He is: "God is Love".

Bible Reading: Romans 8:35-39 (The Message)
Do you think anyone is going to be able to drive a wedge between us and Christ’s love for us? There is no way! Not trouble, not hard times, not hatred, not hunger, not homelessness, not bullying threats, not backstabbing, not even the worst sins listed in Scripture:
“They kill us in cold blood because they hate you. We’re sitting ducks; they pick us off one by one.”

None of this fazes us because Jesus love us. I’m absolutely convinced that nothing – nothing living or dead, angelic or demonic, today or tomorrow, high or low, thinkable or unthinkable – absolutely nothing can get between us and God’s love because of the way that Jesus our Master has embraced us.
